Fiddler crabs, rays and wading herons fill the salt marsh behind the island. Bring binoculars and keep a respectful distance — no chasing or feeding.

Watch with Care
- Fill in any holes you dig on the beach — turtles fall in at night.
- Dim lights oceanfront after dark during nesting season; hatchlings follow the brightest horizon.
- Keep 50+ feet from nesting turtles, dolphins and resting birds; never block a pathway to the water.
- Leave the dunes and cordgrass — they're protected and they hold the island together.
